A striking new silhouette has joined Dubai’s glittering skyline.

Ciel Dubai Marina is the latest and tallest addition, rising above the waterfront district and extending Dubai’s long-running pursuit of architectural superlatives. Its opening reinforces the city’s positioning as a global hub for large-scale hospitality projects, particularly in the luxury segment.

Standing 377 metres across 82 floors, Ciel has been recognised by Guinness World Records as the tallest hotel-only building. Developed by Dubai-based The First Group and designed by award-winning London-based architect NORR, the tower features an elegant `eye of the needle’ shape that reflects a bold, innovative approach to mega-tower architecture. Located at the heart of Dubai Marina, one of the city’s most vibrant waterfront districts, the hotel places guests within easy reach of JBR Beach, Bluewaters Island, Palm Jumeirah and the Marina promenade.

The hotel’s debut comes amid sustained growth in Dubai’s tourism sector. International arrivals reached 18.7 million in 2024, up 9% year on year, with 9.88 million visitors recorded in the first half of 2025. The figures point to continued momentum as the city targets high-spending travellers and works toward its ambition of ranking among the world’s top three tourism destinations.

Ciel operates under IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Vignette Collection, a brand positioned around individuality rather than standardisation. The hotel houses 1,004 keys, including 857 rooms and 147 suites, all featuring floor-to-ceiling windows that offer views of the skyline and the Arabian Gulf. Interiors lean toward restrained luxury, with muted tones, curved architectural lines and natural materials intended to offset the building’s vertical scale.

Several of the hotel’s most prominent features are concentrated at its upper levels. The Tattu Sky Pool on Level 76 ranks among the highest rooftop infinity pools globally, offering panoramic views, plush daybeds, Japanese-fusion bites and an atmosphere that transitions from relaxed daytime lounging to sunset DJ sets. Above it, the Tattu Sky Lounge & Terrace on Level 81 functions as both a cocktail venue and nightlife space, capitalising on the tower’s height as its primary draw.

Food and beverage play a central role in the hotel’s offering, with more than eight venues. The U.K.-born Tattu brand anchors the dining concept across three levels, while additional outlets range from Mediterranean-focused West 13 to Asian buffet-style East 14. More casual options include Risen Café and Artisanal Bakery, as well as Nuage at the poolside for relaxed dining and live sports viewings.

Wellness facilities include a spa (opening in February 2026) and a 24-hour fitness centre overlooking the skyline. The hotel also targets families with a kids club, splash pad and child-focused amenities, broadening its appeal beyond the typical high-rise business or lifestyle traveller.

For corporate guests and longer stays, the Nest executive lounge provides meeting space and private services. At the same time, access to Soluna Beach Club on Palm Jumeirah extends the guest experience beyond the Marina. Sustainability initiatives are embedded in daily operations through energy-efficient systems, water-saving technologies and waste-reduction practices, alongside participation in IHG’s Means for Good programme, a partnership with the World Literacy Foundation to support its mission to eradicate illiteracy by 2040.

For Dubai, the tower is another example of how record-setting architecture continues to intersect with tourism strategy. For The First Group, Ciel represents its most ambitious hospitality project to date and a significant step within the premium segment. Beyond Ciel, it has developed a diverse portfolio of hotels and mixed-use projects. The First Collection brand includes lifestyle hotels in Jumeirah, Business Bay and the Dubai Canal waterfront, while franchised properties such as Wyndham Dubai Marina and TRYP by Wyndham bring internationally recognised hospitality standards to the city.

More than a vertical milestone, Ciel Dubai Marina illustrates how contemporary luxury hotels are increasingly positioned as mixed-use lifestyle platforms, where dining, wellness and social spaces carry as much weight as rooms themselves, reflecting both the opportunities and expectations shaping global hospitality today. In Dubai, it exemplifies the city’s enduring appetite for spectacle, sophistication and scale.
